A mobile app called "Guiyang smart parking" (贵阳智慧停车) was launched on Aug 7 in Guiyang, the capital city of Southwest China's Guizhou province, according to local officials.
Designed by the Guiyang Transportation Committee and Guiyang Smart Parking Industry Investment Development Co Ltd, the app aims to provide intelligent and convenient parking services for drivers based on big data technology.
Officials said the platform will automatically monitor the vehicle flow of parking lots to analyze the parking conditions, making it easier for motorists to find empty spots and ease traffic congestion in the city.
The app also provides other helpful services, including travel navigation, drivers' traffic-violation records and information on the annual vehicle safety inspection.
According to officials, the platform will cover at least 300,000 parking spaces by the end of the year to ease the city's parking problems.
