Guizhou Xiangming data center -- located in Guiyang National High-tech Industrial Development Zone (Guiyang HIDZ) -- was recently placed on the national list of 2020 green data centers, according to a statement published by the Department of Energy Conservation and Resources Utilization at the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.

A total of 60 data centers engaged in different sectors nationally were listed, including 21 in communications, 25 in field of internet, three public institutions, one in energy and 10 in finance.

The Xiangming data center -- in Guiyang HIDZ in Guiyang, capital city of Southwest China's Guizhou province -- was listed in the internet category.

With a floorspace of 28,394 square meters and costing 120 million yuan ($18.35 million), it is positioned as a large-scale commercial data hub, data storage center, information disaster facility, recovery base, as well as a financial system services and disaster recovery center.

To date, 383 data cabinets have been installed in the first phase -- which can carry 4,000 servers -- and currently the data center has a utilization rate of 79 percent. China Mobile, China Unicom and China Telecom have been connected to the center. A number of companies have also stored their data in the center.

Moving forwards, Guiyang HIDZ will expand the construction of the data center, make every effort to develop it as a national green data hub and help Guiyang and nearby Guian achieve major breakthroughs in promoting the construction of industry data clusters in the area.
