The 2020 Guizhou provincial science and technology awards results were recently announced by the Department of Science and Technology of Guizhou Province, with 13 projects from the Guiyang National High-tech Industrial Development Zone making the prize list, accounting for 10.4 percent of the total.
The Guiyang National High-tech Industrial Development Zone, also known as Guiyang HIDZ, is located in the city of Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province.
A total of 125 projects made it onto the list in five categories -- the highest science and technology award, the natural science and technology award, the technological invention award, the science and technology progress award and the science and technology cooperation award.
Projects from Guiyang HIDZ were mostly key technology R&D and applications research projects involving big data, materials, biomedicines, equipment manufacturing and other fields.
Of these, a project on the development and application of integrated equipment for urban sewage treatment was honored with first prize for technological invention. Elsewhere, a project on key technology and applications for the preparation of new phosphorus-containing nucleating agents and flame retardants received second prize in the same category.
Moving forwards, the zone plans to attract new innovation resources, develop innovation platforms and cultivate innovation entities.
It also aims to offer an improved innovative environment, to promote the close integration of technology and the economy, as well as to stimulate the vitality of innovation and entrepreneurship.
