The industries of the Guiyang National High-tech Industrial Development Zone, or Guiyang HIDZ – located in Southwest China's Guizhou province – reportedly experienced robust growth in the first half of 2021, despite the lingering impact of the novel coronavirus outbreak.
From January to June, the output value of industries above a designated size – those with annual sales of 20 million yuan or more – in the Guiyang HIDZ increased by 17.5 percent year-on-year. Of that, strategic emerging industries accounted for 84.1 percent of the output value, the highest level in Guizhou province.
Meanwhile, the added value of industries above a designated size increased by 30.4 percent year-on-year, maintaining 36-month double-digit growth.
Fixed asset investment reached 7.29 billion yuan, completing 57.8 percent of the annual target. Of that, industrial investment totaled 3.54 billion yuan, accounting for 48.6 percent of the zone's fixed asset investment, while private investment accounted for 55.86 percent of total fixed asset investment.
Additionally, investment in major projects came in at 6.36 billion yuan, which reached the goal for the whole year set up by Guiyang city.
In terms of industrial sectors, in the first half of 2021, some 21 electronics information manufacturers above a designated size in the Guiyang HIDZ recorded an output value of 4.43 billion yuan, an increase of 124.39 percent year-on-year, accounting for 48.26 percent of the total industrial output value of the zone.
A total of 35 advanced equipment manufacturers above a designated size recorded an output value of 5.24 billion yuan, an increase of 38.5 percent year-on-year.
To boost its transformation and upgrading, the Guiyang HIDZ is currently implementing a strategy of integrated development of big data and industry.
To date, the zone has overseen 24 intelligent manufacturing pilot demonstration projects.
Three of them were selected as national-level intelligent manufacturing pilot demonstration projects, while 13 projects were included among Guizhou's pilot demonstration projects in the same category.
