Guizhou PIX Moving Technology Co – a group which manufactures driverless vehicles that bring products and services to consumers in their homes or place of work – on Jan 10 signed a commercial agreement with sanitation equipment maker Fulongma Group Co Ltd to develop urban intelligent service robots.
It has developed cutting-edge technologies for use in driverless chassis and supplied around 200 customers from 17 countries.
PIX's technology has reportedly been used in intelligent tree-planting robots, unmanned logistics vehicles, unmanned inspection vehicles, as well as in driverless retail and agricultural vehicles.
Under the contract, the two companies will jointly develop robots serving such fields as road cleaning, garbage transfers, vacuuming, maintenance and weeding.
They will be used in the sanitation operation of nearly 80 districts and counties in China's 20 provinces, currently being served by Fulongma Group.
PIX chief executive officer Yu Chuan said that traditional sanitation was a labor-intensive industry that required a lot of manpower and material resources. Smart sanitation – on the other hand – would become a development trend in the future.
Yu added that based on low driving speed requirements, fixed operating routes and simple human-computer interactions, the urban sanitation sector was one of the easiest areas to implement autonomous driving technology.
