The big data industry is experiencing rapid and transformative development in the Guiyang National High-tech Industrial Development Zone – also known as the Guiyang HIDZ, located in Guiyang city, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province.
Statistics indicate that in 2021, the zone generated 9.52 billion yuan ($1.43 billion) in business revenue from its 5-million-yuan caliber software and information technology services industry, a year-on-year increase of 26.6 percent.
Last year, the number of enterprises in the zone – included in the statistical enterprises of 5-million-yuan caliber software and information technology service industry by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology – reached 100.
Meanwhile, the Guiyang HIDZ helped develop 60 start-ups in the big data and soft service industry and added seven software service enterprises above a designated size – those with annual revenue of 20 million yuan or more – bringing the total number to 30.
Moreover, in the first quarter of 2022, the Guiyang HIDZ's software business revenue came in at 3.06 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 21.62 percent.
In the first quarter of this year, the operating come of internet and related software and information technology service industries above a designated size hit 2.10 billion yuan, up 40 percent on the previous corresponding period.
Elsewhere, in 2021, the Guiyang HIDZ received approval for eight big data demonstration pilot projects at the national, provincial and municipal levels – bringing the total number of national-level projects to 19 and provincial-level projects to 75.
Another 65 new enterprises were promoted to facilitate the integration of big data and the real economy in 2021, with the number of such enterprises reaching 316.
Six projects from the Guiyang HIDZ were selected into the Guiyang 5G demonstration applications project scheduling library and started construction.
Moving forwards, plans are for the Guiyang HIDZ to continue to promote the application of big data in various scenarios.
