The demolition and reconstruction project of the Huayudong Bridge in Southwest China's Guizhou province recently made the 2022 list of excellent technical innovation achievements by Guizhou employees.
The list was jointly released by the Guizhou Federation of Trade Unions, the Guizhou Association for Science and Technology and the Quality Association of Guizhou Province.
This selection aims to revitalize the province through science and education, strengthen the province with talents, and boost innovation-driven development. This will encourage employees to participate in innovation and creation, and promote the commercialization of scientific and technological achievements.
The demolition and reconstruction project of the Huayudong Bridge was conducted by the Guizhou Transportation Planning Survey and Design Academe Co.
The project is different from the traditional idea of "demolishing first and then building". It adopts the innovative construction method of "using the old bridge to build a new arch, and using the new arch to demolish the old bridge".
While completing bridge reconstruction safely and efficiently, the project effectively met the environmental protection requirements of national wetland parks and drinking water sources.
It also successfully realized the project reconstruction goals of "zero pollution of water sources, zero disturbance of scenic spots, reuse of waste materials, and building a new landscape landmark".
Since opening to traffic in June 2021, the Huayudong Bridge has attracted many tourists and has become a famous check-in location, with remarkable ecological and landscape benefits.
