The total number of domestic patent applications in Guiyang National High-tech Industrial Development Zone in Guiyang, the capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, reached 21,080 by the end of last year.
Of those, 14,285 are authorized patents and 10,503 are valid patents.
In recent years, Guiyang HIDZ has attached great importance to encouraging key enterprises in its jurisdiction to increase the number of invention patents related to their core technologies.
These enterprises are involved in the zone’s two leading industries, advanced equipment manufacturing and electronic information manufacturing, as well as a number of key advantageous industrial sectors such as new energy vehicles, software, and information technology services.
As the zone shores up its reputation as being strong in intellectual property, Guiyang HIDZ has issued six intellectual property-related policy documents, forming a relatively complete policy system.
The move has established the institutional foundations for the strong development of intellectual property in both enterprises and the zone itself.
As of Dec 31, 2021, the zone had fostered 21 district-level intellectual property pilot enterprises, seven city-level intellectual property pilot enterprises, five city-level intellectual property advantage enterprises, and two city-level intellectual property demonstration enterprises, as well as 22 provincial-level intellectual property advantage enterprises.
Meanwhile, it cultivated 14 national-level intellectual property advantage enterprises, and three national-level intellectual property demonstration enterprises.
Due to such efforts, the number of high-value patents in Guiyang HIDZ has reached 1,946, with another 15 patents recognized by the China Patent Award.
Guiyang HIDZ is also committed to providing professional services for enterprises to enhance their ability to produce, use, protect and manage their own intellectual property.
Until now, the zone has owned 35 intellectual property service agencies, including four agencies qualified for patents, providing strong support for the development of intellectual property rights within the zone.
