An isotope pharmaceutical production project in the Guiyang National High-tech Industrial Development Zone (Guiyang HIDZ) in Southwest China's Guizhou province has recently been completed.

The project is funded by HTA Co, the first enterprise in Guizhou to produce isotope drugs.

It is designed to cover an area of 6.5 mu (0.43 hectares) and features standard workshops and protective renovations, along with GMP production lines for positron emission drugs and technetium instant labeling drugs.

According to Ye Jun, the company's vice general manager, some of the drugs produced by the company have a very short half-life.

For instance, the physical half-life of 99mTc is only 6.02 hours, and that of fluorine 18F is merely 109.8 minutes.

Existing distribution channels cannot meet the demands of the Guizhou market, and the new workshops will address issues related to the limited production and distribution range of diagnostic drugs with short radioactive half-lives.

Next, the company will proceed with obtaining drug production and operation permits. Verification production is expected to commence after the Spring Festival, with full-scale production anticipated to begin around July this year.

Once fully operational, production capacity is expected to reach approximately 60 million units.
