PIX Moving, a technology company based in the Guiyang National High-Tech Industrial Development Zone (Guiyang HIDZ), won the Special Prize – the highest honor – at the China-ASEAN AI + Cultural Tourism Innovation Application Competition on Sept 16, standing out among 506 competing projects.
The award comes with a 1million yuan ( $140,252) cash prize.
Launched on May 25, the competition attracted 336 enterprises and 170 universities from across China and ASEAN countries, highlighting the growing role of artificial intelligence in the cultural tourism industry.
PIX Moving's winning entry was its minibus, a self-driving vehicle designed to enhance smart city development by providing short-distance shuttle and scenic-area mobility services. With its cutting-edge AI technology and adaptability to diverse tourism scenarios, the minibus has shown strong practical value and market potential.
"When our company was announced as the winner, many in the audience were surprised to learn we're from Guizhou," said a PIX Moving project representative.
"That moment reflected how perceptions of Guizhou's tech innovation are changing. It also strengthened our confidence in continuing to explore AI-driven cultural tourism." The company plans to invest the prize funds in research, development and market expansion, including exploring partnerships to enter the ASEAN tourism market through localized product upgrades.
As a high-tech enterprise incubated in Guiyang HIDZ, PIX Moving's success underscores the zone's growing strength in fostering AI-industry integration. The zone will continue to provide policy support and resource coordination to help local tech enterprises expand into broader markets and bring cutting-edge AI applications to more industries.
