Guiyang National High-Tech Industrial Development Zone (Guiyang HIDZ) in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, has opened its newly completed Industrial Worker Community in the Electronic Information Industrial Park – the first facility of its kind in the city – now available to employees from companies across the zone.
"We transformed an area roughly the size of 16 standard football fields into a comprehensive living circle that includes housing, commercial services, and fitness facilities," said a representative of the Guiyang HIDZ Federation of Trade Unions. As a major hub for industrial enterprises, the industrial park had long lacked adequate living and service amenities for its workforce.
To address workers' housing and daily needs, Guiyang HIDZ developed this integrated community combining residence, services, training, and leisure. The goal is to create a lifestyle where "home is 10 minutes from work, and everything you need is 10 minutes from home." The community features four major functional zones.

Industrial support zone: Over 2,000 workers have already moved into talent apartments and affordable housing, meeting essential living needs.
Living services zone: A marketplace, supermarket, therapy shops, and sports facilities provide convenient options for shopping, wellness, and recreation.
Skills development zone: Partnerships with industry-education integration bases and Guiyang Economic and Technical School offer pathways for lifelong learning and skills improvement.
Comprehensive service zone: Anchored by a 3,404-square-meter service center, the zone integrates community services, cultural spaces, recruitment support, shared meeting rooms, night classes, and fitness areas to form a one-stop service hub.
Digital upgrades are also underway. A dedicated mini-program – offering recruitment, networking, events, and night school registration services – is expected to launch next month, further enhancing service efficiency and accessibility.
