Eleven projects from Guiyang National High-tech Industrial Development Zone (Guiyang HIDZ) in Southwest China's Guizhou province have been named among the top 100 projects in the 11th "Maker China" Guizhou Province Small and Medium Enterprise Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition, according to the recently released shortlist.
Nine of the selected projects are from the enterprise category and two are from the startup category. They span sectors including digital intelligence, mineral processing, new energy and new materials, and specialty manufacturing.
Digital intelligence emerged as Guiyang HIDZ's strongest field, with seven projects making the list. They cover applications such as edge AI-based disaster monitoring, data center development and digital transformation, and AI-powered energy efficiency management for industrial furnaces, highlighting the integration of artificial intelligence and big data with the real economy.
Two other projects focus on industrial resource utilization and advanced materials, including the recycling of coal gangue and the development of semiconductor passivation glass powder. The two startup projects showed excellence in the digital intelligence and specialty light-industry categories.
As Guizhou's first national-level high-tech industrial development zone, Guiyang HIDZ has continued to strengthen its innovation ecosystem and support the growth of technology-driven small and medium-sized enterprises. The latest results underscore Guiyang HIDZ's growing innovation capacity and the efforts made to upgrade its industrial base.
